What was the #1 song the day you were born? Google the date and #1 song and then post your #1 song on your LJ - preferably with a Youtube vid if you can find one!

Faith by George Michael. Quite embarrassing really...

1. Which book has been on your shelves the longest?

Probably Buffy books

Twilight and Leonardo's Swans by Karen Essex

4. Which book do you keep telling yourself you'll read, but you probably won't?

Sinuhe egyptiläinen (The Egyptian) by Mika Waltari. I've wanted to read this book but I read one of his books in school and hated it so much. So I've never made myself start this one.

5. Which book are you saving for "retirement?"

Don't know. I don't save books.

6. Last page: read it first or wait till the end?

Usually wait till the end but there's few times that I've read it first.

7. Acknowledgments: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside?

depends on the author

8. Which book character would you switch places with?

Many! Anita Blake and Merry Gentry (I want they're men :D) , Moiraine (Wheel of Time) and Arwen

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)?

Not really, no

10. Name a book you acquired in some interesting way.

I don't think I have anything that I got in interesting way...

Only to borrow

12. Which book has been with you to the most places?

Maybe The Vampire Armand

14. What is the strangest item you’ve ever found in a book?

buss ticket

15. Used or brand new?

Both

16. Stephen King: Literary genius or opiate of the masses?

Not sure. I've read couple of his books but they were ok.

17. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book?

The only one I can think of now is The Duchess

18. Conversely, which book should NEVER have been introduced to celluloid?

19. Have you ever read a book that's made you hungry, cookbooks being excluded from this question?

Never

20. Who is the person whose book advice you'll always take?

I'm always open to suggestions but can't say anyone particular.

It's New Year's Day here but Happy New Year everyone!

I ended up spending the whole day sober with my parents. Not bitter at all... I was hoping to do something with my friends because we didn't do anything last year neither but oh well... I watched Drag Me To Hell, read one book, finished one and started another. Which makes it 95 watched movies and 104 read books.

My parents gave me The Sisters of Henry VIII by Maria Perry and gift card to bookstore for birthday  =)

I had nice Christmas Eve. We went to grandma's place to eat and after that we opened the presents at home. I'd really like to be at home the whole day but my cousin opened her mouth again and wanted to there. I just don't understand why we have to go too? Oh well...
But I'm happy about my presents :) I got:

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Elizabeth the Queen by Alison Weir
Swallowing Darkness by Laurell K. Hamilton
The Tudor Rose by Margaret Campbell Barnes
To The Tower Born by Robin Maxwell
Drag Me To Hell
The Countess
Book of Blood
Across the Dark by Insomnium
The Root of All Evil by Arch Enemy
The Last Alliance by Battlelore
B. Virtanen calendar
Nightwish towel
Donna Karan perfume
Sentenced hoodie
sweater
pyjamas
chocolate
50 €

I bought the books for myself xD

Tomorrow is the first workday after Christmas and I so don't wanna go!!

And I already know what I get for birthday which is on New Year's Eve. Mom forgot to buy anything so she left one book I bought for my birthday xD When I was kid I always hated that she left something from Christmas presents for birthday.

I’m done with Christmas shopping! Go me! I bought a book for my mom and spent nearly 2 hours trying to find one. She asked the new book by Outi Pakkanen but I don’t remember its name anymore… First I didn’t find it anywhere and when I finally found it and noticed that it’s 37 €! I’m so not spending that much money on it! I bought Missä Olet Nyt? (Where Are You Now?) by Mary Higgins Clark. I hope she hasn’t read that one yet…

And I fell twice when I walked to the buss stop. Dammit! And there was lot of eye witnesses…

My sisters came to visit us today. And they stayed total 40 minutes... I'm so glad that I rushed home from stables *sarcasm*

Went to see Eternal Tears of Sorrow at Helsinki with Suska and Crista on Saturday. There was also Metsatöll and two other bands but we didn't saw them.
We met first with Suska's friend there who had bought the tickets for us. We went to a bar first so we missed the first two bands. But I'm sure we didn't miss much... But EToS was great! We ended up on the second row in the middle. It was nice surprise to see Miriam Renvåg on the stage too. She replaced Jarmo Kylmänen who was sick.

I still haven't started Christmas shopping yet. I'm starting to get little panicked! And I don't have the slightest clue what to buy...

I finished reading The Fellowship of the Ring today and will start The Two Towers later today. This was the first time I'm reading those in English, I've read them in Finnish two times.

Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile."

I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity.
Update your journal with the answers to the questions.

Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions. Snagged from [info]lostinfatesgame

1. What's a day like in Finland?
cold, grey and little snowy

2. Anita Blake; what attracts you to the books?
Guess I have to say the men xD I like her writing style and her vampires can be bad and they don't sparkle!

3. If you could bring back 3 shows to just return or show reruns what would they be?
Hard to choose! Alias, Buffy and Fastlane

4. Name one book that you can read over and over. Why?
Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice. First Anne Rice book I've read and I was totally hooked. I think its the most "easy read" of her books.

5. One word to describe yourself.
shy

Seems like all the concerts are coming the same time. On Wednesday went to see Swallow the Sun. First there was acoustic gig in a record shop and after that regular show at Klubi. Haven't seen them awhile but they were great. And I finally heard the new album yesterday.
Yesterday was Kotiteollisuus. It was fun and I think they had best setlist in long time.

Next Thursday is Amorphis, Eternal Tears of Sorrow next month and Apocalyptica on March.

I’ve been starting to seriously think about going back to school. I’ve been talked long time that I’d like to read history but never got around to do it. My friend has said many times I should try but I've always said that because I didn't even go to high school, there's no poin in it but now I've started to re-think... And I'm kinda sick of working in kitchens...
I told my mom today and she was little suprised but didn't ask too much. I was expecting lot more of questions...

I've nearly finished with The Thistle and the Rose by Jean Plaidy. It's about Margaret Tudor, Henry VIII's sister. I've liked it so far.

Went to Maj Karma concert yesterday with Crista and Suska. Firt time I was the driver because Suska came straight from work and I picked up Crista from her work. I haven’t drove in the centre since I got my licence. Parking isn’t my best but I found easy place park xD

But the band was good. I don’t listen them that much except in festivals and such. The only songs I recognised were Sodankylä, Ukkonen, Salama and Attentaatti. The singer, Herra Ylppö, came to the audience twice and to the table in front of us once and sat in front me.

I finished reading Vengeance In Death by J.D. Robb I'm reading Murder Most Royal by Jean Plaidy. It's about Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard and I'm really liked it and how she's portrayed them.
